About our Engineering Team

Our engineering team works on challenging product-oriented problems across the boundaries of e-commerce, mobile, analytics and shipping/fulfillment, and the backbone of our business is served by our custom logistics management system which is core to our capacity to deliver the right product to the right user at the right time. We utilize data, engineering and algorithms to create a personalized website and an adaptive supply chain to fulfill our commitment to an amazing customer experience.

About the Role:

Rent the Runway is hiring a Jr. Web Developer to join our rapidly-growing team and help build one of the most unique businesses online. If you want to work on creating our amazing emails, lookbooks and more with a fun group of talented and driven engineers and designers this is the right role for you.

Your creativity, innovation and technical skills will be pushed to create unique solutions alongside other talented developers who also happen to be fantastic people.  While extremely passionate about what we do, we don’t take ourselves too seriously – you shouldn’t be surprised if you find yourself joining your team in an impromptu Nerf gun war, followed by an inevitable peace treaty and celebratory drinks.

 

Key responsibilities:

 Communicate and coordinate coding emails and on-site features like lookbooks and custom landing pages with marketing, creative, tech, and product teams 

 Prepare detailed specs for various site interfaces and work with front-end developers to ensure design is enforced via the QA process

 Create E-mails and CMS/Web content in HTML/CSS

 Prepare assets for development and email deployment including sprites and slices

 Assist creative team with basic interface updates to copy and slices

 

Prerequisites:

 Good understanding of design and high attention to detail

 Proficiency in HTML and CSS

 Familiar with limitations and layout in HTML E-mails

 Excellent knowledge of compression techniques for graphical assets

 Proficiency in Photoshop and Dreamweaver

 Familiar with content management systems (WordPress, Drupal, Joomia, etc)

 Eager to learn and grow with a successful startup

 Flexible personality with ability to work under tight deadlines

 Javascript experience a plus
