Overview

Responsibilities:
NONPROFIT OUTREACH AND CONSULTATION
  • Serve as Taproot’s primary contact with the New York nonprofit community pertaining to our service offerings. Keep a pulse on innovative local nonprofits and be responsive to nonprofit program inquiries.
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase quality and impact of client engagements.
  • Manage database content including Salesforce, intranet & online tools to support our programs.
PROGRAM & GRANT MANAGEMENT
  • Manage full spectrum of Taproot’s program implementation including:
  • Assess nonprofit challenges and needs through scope assessments and readiness
  • Train and coach cross-functional pro bono consultant teams and nonprofit clients, leveraging business professionals’ skills to match nonprofit need
  • Offer counsel on appropriate type and timing of pro bono projects for nonprofits; interview for and award projects, if applicable
  • Become an expert on pro bono and effectively train others on core principles.
  • Support and participate in a range of projects, including cross-functional projects and done-in-a-day trainings.
  • Provide weekly oversight of about 20 Service Grant projects at any given time, ensuring progress, quality and timely outcomes throughout various stages of project completion
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director or Senior Program Manager
PRO BONO CONSULTANT RECRUITMENT, ENGAGEMENT & RETENTION
  • Work with the Recruitment Team and Program Associate to strategize and implement volunteer recruitment, engagement & retention activities, including events and communications.
  • Monitor overall status of New York pro bono consultant pool in order to properly report on and react to local needs.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Senior Program Manager or Executive Director.
CONSULTING & INNOVATION
  • Partner with Program Team on local innovation efforts
  • Contribute to the development and execution of new approaches in our programmatic work.
  • Partner with national product development team to refine program delivery and service
  • Consult on an ad hoc basis to nonprofits, corporations, foundations, and communities through facilitated workshops or other channels, making recommendations where appropriate

EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with a strong academic record
  • Three or more years of relevant professional experience, preferably in one of the following fields: nonprofits, strategy, technology, marketing, human resources or finance
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in verbal and written communication
  • Passion for the mission of Taproot Foundation
  • Competencies in Salesforce, Constant Contact, Excel and WebEx
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Demonstrated expertise in leading cohorts of professionals
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to assess and understand the needs of distinct audiences
  • Ability to work independently while functioning effectively as a member of a team
  • Innovative, organized self-starter who thrives in a fast-moving entrepreneurial environment
  • Extreme attention to detail
  • Exceptional ability to learn quickly; strong analytic skills
