SparkGig is a fast-paced startup based in Kitchener-Waterloo, active in Toronto and New York, building a new way for performers and event planners to connect online.

We are a fun, highly motivated and dynamic team working towards a better future in the exciting live entertainment industry. We recently closed our seed round of investment, and we’re now looking to expand the team and accelerate our growth.

Job Description 
We are looking for a hard-core, roll-up your sleeves full stack developer who will write JavaScript code and make key contributions to our company.

What you’ll be doing 
Working closely with the founding team to develop major new features. 
Using the latest web technologies, including Node.js and AngularJS. 
Continually enhancing the existing website to improve usability and user engagement. 
Measuring and analyzing user behaviour to help guide future product development.

Who you are 
You’re an experienced software engineer with solid programming skills and intuition 
You want to build applications that will be seen by millions 
You like taking ownership of projects end-to-end 
You are independent and love to learn and challenge yourself 
You appreciate live entertainment

What you’ll need 
2+ years of full stack web development experience 
Experience with functional programming, Node.js or AngularJS is a plus 
Impress us! A Computer Science or Software Engineering degree is nice, but we’d love to see any samples of past work or contributions to open source

At Sparkgig, we are bridging the gap that exists between live entertainers and event organizers. Now, in just a few clicks, anyone organizing a corporate event, private party or wedding can quickly and easily find the perfect entertainment. Sparkgig allows event organizers to streamline their searches to finding talented and reliable local performers of the right kind, style, availability and price. Organizers will be able to make informed decisions regarding their bookings by browsing our performers’ beautiful customized portfolios which include, professional videos, photos, short biographies, certified feedback and ratings from previous events. At the same time, our platform will keep performers engaged by allowing them to interact with their supporters and to collaborate with other performers. Entertainers will be able to consolidate all of their different sources of media into their very own beautiful and professional portfolio.
