The Opportunity

Are you looking to use your social media skills and learn about a national social change organization from the inside out?  The Taproot Foundation is seeking an enthusiastic social media community manager who will be responsible for executing both day-to-day communications and the development and implementation of innovative community building strategies and content across current social media channels including Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. The ideal candidate understands how to effectively manage social media and internet communities to generate engagement from existing and new stakeholders by leveraging Taproot’s brand.

Responsibilities include:

  • Curating, managing and publishing content for Taproot’s presence on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.Content needs to be consistent with Taproot’s brand in tone and voice. (Guidance and tools will be provided.
    • Promoting Taproot pro bono services—the national and local programs, events, and initiatives that engage business professionals in pro bono service for social change organizations—across Taproot’s social media platforms.
    • Promoting partner events and initiatives as requested by External Affairs team.
    • Finding, generating and engaging in content relevant to our work.
  • Monitoring social media pages and responding to continue conversations and inspire engagement.
  • Developing and maintaining a social media editorial calendar.
  • Developing content and executing for Pro Bono Week 2015, October 25-31. (Pro Bono Week is a global celebration of pro bono service.)
Experience and Competencies
The ideal candidate has proven ability in the skills below as well as a genuine interest in working for an innovative and entrepreneurial nonprofit organization.
  • Attained or is working toward a degree related to marketing, nonprofit management or both.
  • Able to work 8-12 hours/week (can be virtual as well as in-person)
  • Displays in-depth knowledge and understanding of Social Media platforms, their respective participants (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn) and how each platform can be deployed in different scenarios. (Please provide link(s) to one or more profiles as examples).
  • Proficient in producing content with experience sourcing and managing content development and publishing.
  • Excellent writing and language skills.
  • Excellent project management and communications skills.
  • Able to use Hootsuite
  • Familiarity with analytics to assist Director of Marketing in social media metric measurement.
