Overview

POSITION OVERVIEW:

IAC is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to architect, implement & manage network infrastructure across IAC locations.  The Engineer will work as part of a team to support connectivity requirements for IAC Corporate & subsidiary businesses at IAC HQ in NYC and Los Angeles as well as among service providers & subsidiary businesses in other locations.  The Engineer will provide primary input in network architecture & design as well as hands-on implementation & support.

In addition to design & architecture responsibilities, the Engineer will perform troubleshooting, respond to operational incidents, & participate in on-call responsibilities.  The Engineer will be expected to demonstrate strong communication skills, excellent organizational & project management skills, and have a deep & broad understanding of networking & related technologies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design & implement highly available network architectures
• Conduct regular testing to validate DR/HA implementations
• Manage software & hardware product lifecycles, maintain appropriate levels of vendor support
• Manage capacity of network & related infrastructure components to balance cost & potential growth
• Implement monitoring & instrumentation technologies & practices to proactively identify & resolve operational issues
• Maintain network diagrams & documentation, perform regular inventories & validation to ensure accuracy
• Follow change management policies & procedures to ensure that operational risk is minimized & that changes are conducted with appropriate documentation, communication, & testing
• Institute methodical troubleshooting practices & effectively manage incident communication, root-cause identification, & lessons-learned
• Planning, project management and implementation leadership, identifying opportunities for service and quality improvement

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience required
• Bachelor degree in Computer Science/Engineering preferred or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
• Extensive knowledge & familiarity with relevant networking technologies:
  • Cisco
  • PaloAlto
  • Aruba
  • Avaya
• Expert in Switching concepts (STP, VTP, EtherChannel, LACP)
• Knowledge of advanced Layer 3 Routing Protocols (BGP, ISIS, OSPF, EIGRP)
• Experience with BGP: Communities, Traffic Engineering
• Advanced knowledge of VoIP phone systems
• Commitment to supporting IT Processes such as change management, availability monitoring & testing, capacity planning
• Methodical approach to troubleshooting
• Demonstrated excellent organizational and time management skills
• Strong communication skills – ability to effectively communicate relevant information during incidents
• Ability to convey a strong presence, professional image, deal confidently with highly complex technical problems
• Ability to anticipate problems, resolve ambiguity and take decisive action
