The Sales Engineer will be responsible for owning and driving the technical evaluations of the Logentries service. Working closely with Sales and Customer Success, the Sales Engineer will work as the key technical advisor for pre-sales relationships and managing the technical sales process. The Sales Engineer should be able to answer technical questions from customers or prospects regarding Logentries and Logentries related technology. The Sales Engineer must have the ability to articulate the Logentries vision and story to both technical and non-technical users.

Goals & Responsibilities

  • Ability to act as the technical lead for the Logentries sales team, delivering product demonstrations, proof-of-concepts and technical evaluations
  • Identify technical needs and customer challenges to craft solutions with the Logentries service
  • Work closely with sales executives, engineers, customer support and members of the management team to acquire new customers and expand opportunities with existing customers
  • Act as a technical sales advisor and champion with internal teams and external customers

Skills and Expertise Required

  • BS or BA with a technical degree, preferably a Computer Science or Engineering degree
  • 2-5 years of experience as a sales engineer or customer facing technical role (Customer Support, Product Management, IT Consulting, etc.)
  • Strong presentation and communication skills – including a professional communication style via email and telephone
  • Technical background including: Networking, Windows and UNIX operating systems
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
  • Interest in learning new technologies and managing multiple projects
  • Travel may occur, but will be minimal.

Pluses:

  • Experience with log management applications such as Splunk or Logstash, or similar technologies
  • Experience working with cloud computing platforms and related services
  • Experience selling a SaaS based technical service
  • Knowledge of Python, Perl, or any programming language
