Product Management at Rent the Runway:

The Product Management team at Rent the Runway offers a very unique role, as we face complex business challenges that have yet to be tackled by other retailers – allowing for true creativity and out-of-the-box thinking.  RTR is an omni-channel company that spans across desktop mobile, and retail stores.  Product candidates need to be visionary as they think about how the customer experience will work across all channels.

Role & Responsibilities:

The Product Management team at Rent the Runway is committed to the customer and their user experience. The site is the first step into their Cinderella Moment, and the team ensures the site delivers a top notch experience. The Product Management team, and this role, is critical to the growth of the overall business.

The Product Manager role is responsible for leading large scale projects from product discovery to launch. The role is responsible for initiatives that can dramatically impact the business, and the individual within this role should exude passion about the responsibility that this role entails.

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify business opportunities that support the Rent the Runway strategy

• Build and own a roadmap that is focused on business goals

• Cultivate an intimate understanding of the end user, whether it’s our customer or internal business user

• Collaborate with business owners to understand business needs and requirements

• Own large scale projects throughout the entire product lifecycle; including post- launch follow-ups regarding metrics and areas for improvement

• Iterate through wireframes to convey specifications and interaction models that best suit user needs, then partner with designers to create a compelling visual experience

• Break long term goals and projects into short term wins that allow us to learn and iterate quickly

• Negotiate scope and proactively address problems

• User Acceptance testing of all requests before they launch

• Maintain close relationships with technology to ensure that all requirements are clearly understood; adjusting details/scope as necessary

• Involved in primary research such as Usability testing and Focus group

• Active competitive analysis of other sites to continually identify ways to grow the user experience

• ROI analysis on new project opportunities, to assist with prioritization discussions

Personal Attributes:

• Passionate about the web, eCommerce, and the customer experience

• Experience in creating and owning roadmaps – including owning the brainstorming discussions and prioritizing projects based on business goals

• Have a strong expertise of established web standards and UI best practices, and a curiosity about emerging technologies

• Enjoy making people’s lives easier

• A creative problem solver who looks beyond what people say and focuses on what they need

• Not afraid to drive an issue forward when necessary, but you know how to prioritize based on business need

• Can think big picture, but understand how to manage a project to focus on iterative changes that can make large impacts

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in related field

• Minimum of 4 years product management experience with web or technology products, including mobile

• Outstanding organization skills

• Excellent written and oral capabilities

• Knowledgeable about the Web and comfortable with technology

• Experience bringing web products from conception to implementation, including defining and communicating specifications, managing resources, and leading cross-functional teams

• Experience with web analytic tools such as Google Analytics
