Overview

We’re looking for an energetic Netezza Administrator to join our growing Database Operations team. 

This position will focus primarily on supporting our Netezza appliance platform and technologies which will include configuration, administration, performance monitoring and maintenance of business-critical 24×7 non-production and production environments, while also helping out with DB2 and Informatica support.  If you’re great, we even have opportunities for you to grow into other database/reporting platforms as well.

The position requires you to be a team player for a small group that is responsible for managing and supporting high performance, highly available and mission critical database/reporting platforms.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs Netezza performance analysis, capacity planning, system sizing and ongoing maintenance/tuning to ensure maximum performance of our Netezza appliance platform
• Perform backup, restore and disaster recovery activities
• Assists application development teams with planning and implementing database changes as well as query / job optimization
• Work with IBM support to manage hardware/software failures, appliance upgrades and install patches
• Troubleshoots difficult database problems, including slow running queries
• Secondarily, similar duties for Informatica and IBM DB2/BLU platforms

Ideal Qualities:

• Solid experience as a Netezza Administrator 
• Informatica administration experience
• IBM DB2/BLU administration experience
• Passionate about solving business data problems
• Experience with mission critical environments
• Someone who thrives in a rapid paced environment and loves new challenges
• Lazy enough to script actions he/she has to do twice
• Incredibly detail oriented and thorough

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or other related discipline
• 3+ years Netezza administration
• 3+ years supporting mission critical applications
• Linux/Windows experience

Nice to have:

• Experience with Informatica a big plus
• 2+ years supporting DB2 / BLU in an enterprise or online environment
