Reporting to the Head of Engineering Operations, the System Engineer will add immense value to our engineering process. You will automate our operations to make engineering at Jobcase faster, more nimble, and scalable at a critical growth juncture. The role is not narrowly defined, and the System Engineer should expect to wear a lot of hats, thriving in a rapidly changing environment. You will rely on 3+ years’ prior experience installing, maintaining and troubleshooting complex Linux environments and applications.
Support rapid-fire continuous deployment of software platform in a highly available distributed environment
Build / manage / plan expansion of a cloud based distributed Linux infrastructure
Automate software installation and configuration management (e.g. Ansible, Chef)
Understand and troubleshoot network and server hardware metrics: load, memory, disk I/O, network I/O, etc.
Build/update/maintain monitoring tools and/or expand current tool sets
Improvise and innovate when challenges arise using creative outside the box solutions
Diagnose performance and capacity issues with large scale data stores
Desired skills & experience:
3+ years RHEL v6.x+ and/or CentOS v6.x+ Linux systems administration
Experience configuring and/or maintaining various parts of network infrastructure (load balancers, firewalls, VPN concentrators, etc).
Experience with virtual or cloud computing environments (AWS, Rackspace, etc.)
Internet applications and protocols HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, & SSL
Experience with RDBMS (MySQL, Postgres, etc) and Key/Value stores
Proficiency in at least 1 scripting language (Python, Bash, Ruby)
Poise under pressure and an ability to influence change through data-driven decisions and rapport with colleagues
