Overview

IXL is the world’s most popular subscription-based learning website, currently used by more than four million students around the globe.  We are looking for product managers to lead the design and development of new features for IXL and also to create brand-new products.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Define product vision and strategy (in collaboration with our CEO and senior managers)

• Develop and launch new products and/or enhance existing products

• Work with the engineering team to help determine the best implementation methods

• Work with other teams, such as technical support, marketing, and sales, to understand customer needs

• Find and hire talented contributors with specialized, sometimes difficult-to-find skills (examples:  subject-area experts, graphic designers capable of a particular style)

• Own the product life cycle from requirements gathering through release and beyond

QUALIFICATIONS

• BA/BS degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

• Several years of relevant work experience, ideally involving web-based software or educational software

• An interest in teaching and learning

• Insight into what makes things fun (or not fun)

• An ability to put yourself in the mind of various types of users and understand how they will interact with a product and what will and won’t appeal to them

• An ability to critically analyze competing products and our own

• A creative mind with an eye for beautiful UI design

• Strong project management and organizational skills, including the ability to lead multiple complex projects simultaneously

• Specialized knowledge of, and enthusiasm for, a particular discipline (math, English, science, world languages, etc.) is a plus.
