We are looking for a DevOps/SysOps or Infrastructure Engineer who is passionate about high availability, cloud technologies, network engineering, security and agile development. We need the most robust solutions in the face of ever changing, complex challenges. Experience in a cloud-based environment, building automatically scalable infrastructure, serving high traffic loads is a must. We are a dynamic, innovative team building a global real-time platform utilizing latest technologies like Kafka, Storm, Zookeeper, Hadoop, Spark, Cassandra, all wrapped in the NetflixOSS infrastructure stack for our many services.

Our Engineering philosophy is to do the right thing, at all times.  We are not interested in people who are not looking to grow.  Let’s re-iterate that, you MUST be looking to grow as both an individual and an engineer to work at Viafoura.  We push boundaries to deliver a distributed, real-time API that handles thousands of requests per second.

Responsibilities:

Work closely with a collaborative, agile team.

Maintain the health, stability and security of our growing production cluster.
Support and troubleshoot production problems.
Develop and enforce best practices in configuration management and application deployment.
Maintain and improve Git source control and continuous integration systems.
Amazon EC2 virtual machine automation and administration.
Select, setup, and install machine and application monitoring and alerting systems.
Ensure high reliability and adequate capacity on distributed “big data” and auto-scaled systems.

Annual northern expeditions where you will save baby seals.
Work with AWS, Hadoop, Cassandra, MySQL, Kafka, Storm, Zookeeper, Spark, Jetty, Ubuntu, Git…

Skills & Requirements

Must-have Skills:

Solid foundation of Linux Administration.
Linux bash scripting experience – command line guru.
Knows at least one scripting language besides bash.
Should have worked on Java applications.
Knowledge of LAMP/LEMP – Nginx / Apache2 / MySQL.
Good grasp of networking concepts.
Enthusiasm for exploring new technologies.

Nice to have:

Experience in any configuration management system.
Experience in Amazon Web Services and/or virtualization.
Experience with Big data Or Distributed systems.
Contributions to open-source or personal projects.
Experience with highly available systems such as Kafka, Storm, Trident, Cassandra, HBase, Zookeeper, Hadoop, Spark, Shark.
