Overview
We’re currently seeking a highly motivated early-career professional to join us on our small but growing marketing team. We’re looking for an energetic, savvy, do-it-all marketing guru who’s ready to dive in and help share the stories of VFA with potential Fellows, and drive the organization’s growth.
You:
- Have worked in a marketing/branding/communications role (whether through rigorous internships or full-time), with experience in content creation, writing, social media, design, and/or other areas. Startup experience is a plus
- Have a growth-oriented mindset while still valuing high-touch, quality content
- Are a perfectionist who has next-level organizational skills and detail-orientation. Typos make you sick
- Not only have very strong writing skills, but you love doing it. You can produce compelling content quickly in the VFA brand voice, tell a story, and adapt your writing for different audiences
- Have an eye for design. You don’t need to be a professional designer, but you should be savvy when it comes to layout, consistency, and knowing what looks good
- Are familiar with email and content marketing, and excited to learn more
- Can prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. You feel there is no task too small, and work well in the absence of structure
- Possess social media savvy, and are able to identify opportunities and channels for sharing content and engaging our audiences
- Have good instincts, and only have to ask how to do something once (maybe twice)
- Have strong values alignment with VFA and our team. You truly believe in what VFA is doing and want to share it with the world
- Have a B.A./B.S.; 1-3 years of professional experience is preferred
- Familiarity with design platforms, PowerPoint, photo and/or video editing is a plus
What you’ll do:
- Identify and implement improvements to our marketing and communications, with a focus on potential applicants to the VFA fellowship
- Work across the Community Growth and Marketing teams to create high-quality content, messages, and materials targeted primarily at potential VFA applicants
- Find new methods to grow VFA’s reach while still maintaining personal, targeted communications
- Manage our blog and all social media accounts
- Help widen the funnel of high-quality, potential VFA applicants by increasing brand awareness among our target demographic (both on campus and through online channels)
- Capture and deliver inspiring VFA stories that educate potential VFA applicants and keep them excited about VFA from first touch point through hitting apply
- Strike a balance by establishing and reinforcing our value proposition in everything you do without “selling” – we strive to represent the VFA experience genuinely at every turn
- Track and report on our digital presence and the effectiveness of marketing efforts, including email marketing, website, blog, and social media
The good stuff:
- High performers at VFA are given substantial opportunity to grow and develop
- You’ll earn a competitive salary, commensurate with experience, plus health, dental, and vision benefits
- VFA is a dynamic startup environment with varied responsibilities and a different challenge each day (we mean it – always plenty of interesting problems to work on!)
- You’ll work alongside a team of crazy motivated, high-caliber people
- You’ll suddenly have less trouble getting out of bed and going to work in the morning
